Eyes Ever To The Sky
(The Sky Trilogy #1)
Trade Paperback, 194 pages
Katie French Books
April 9, 2013
Fantasy, Mystery, Paranormal Romance,
Science Fiction, YA

Why do I love this cover?

This is such a beautifully romantic image!  It's a literal representation of the feeling of being in love -- the "walking on cloud nine" metaphor.

I love the detailed realism of the figures, clouds, and moon.  The folds of  the young man's pants are meticulously detailed, the clouds look three-dimensional, with lightning sparking through them.  The moon looks very realistic, as well.

This couple's tender embrace is so sweet...it makes me want to start reading this story, and not stop until I'm finished with the book!

I love the color scheme, too; it reminds me of 1940's movies.  I'm thinking particularly of Alfred Hitchcock, and especially of "Rebecca", which was filmed exactly in 1940, and was adapted from the classic Daphne Du Maurier novel.

The placing of the title and author's name, between the moon and the rest of the image, is simply brilliant!  The font is just perfect -- it complements the rest of the cover, and doesn't distract the eye from it.

Although I did check the author's cover reveal post on her blog, there was no information there about the cover artist, incredibly enough....  However, I was able to find information on Amazon.  I'll be purchasing this book as soon as I can!

The highly talented creator of this cover is Andrew Pavlik!  He is a photographer and designer with his own studio, Pavlik Photography.

  2. Really loved this one from Katie French. It's a YA sci-fi romance with a mystery element. I've never read anything quite like it. Like The Breeders, this one kept me on edge and had me reading till wayyyy past my bedtime. Bravo, Ms. French!
